  1. Greetings, my name is Junayed. I will be helping you to understand the Holocaust. I will help you by relaying my findings to you. At this point I have a small understanding of the Holocaust. I only know that this was part of Hitler's ultimate plan of antisemitism, it was brought into the light before world war 1 and millions were killed in an unfair way. So mostly I look forward to understanding this topic and dread it to reappear in the world.

  2. Hello, my name is Saad and I will be helping you guys in the book called milkweed. The things I know about holocaust is that it was discrimination specifically toward the Jews and t took place before WWII and it was all part of a plan created by Hitler.

  3. Hi, my name is Bibek. I will be working with you in a book named called Milkweed and I will share my idea about Holocaust. In the moment I have a small understanding about Holocaust. The word Holocaust means “sacrifice by fire” in Greek. Holocaust was systematic and murder of approximately 6 million Jewish’s people. This was a plan of Adolf Hitler, he slowly began to rule Germany and taken away right of Jewish’s people. Jews people were held in consternation camp. Right now that’s all I know about Holocaust, I will be looking forward to get involved in this topic.

What do you think would happen if Jewish have were leading? What would you do if you were involved in Hitler plan? Would you stand up for Jewish’s?

    2. Dandi, have you considered that if you stood up the way you say you could you would be executed for treason. You could also be publicly tortured and harrassed by Nazis.

  5. Hello again, Junayed here. So far the in Milkweed I have found out that in the Holocaust not all the people who were effected by the Holocaust were aware about what was happening. Even aside from the Holocaust I have noticed racism in other ways in my book. For example my main character was seperated from his own family by angry farmers who kidnapped him out of racism. I am wondering as well if only the Jewish people are being given pitty. What about all the other innocent people who were discriminated against does nobody know about them? If you were seperated from your family, left with nothing and had no knowledge would you want to stay alive? Would you have the will to live on or would the burden be too much? Would it be better to die quickly from a bullet or die from the death march? Would those who had the choice between these two think the same way?

  6. hello it mesaad again and i'm going to share what i've learned in this past weekabout holocaust.

What I’ve learned about holocaust from this book that I didn’t know was that in that time Hitler hadn’t got full control of Poland but still the Jew people had to were a star and get there store painted with a yellow star in the book milkweed Jews people got to clean the rods an sidewalks with their beard and the Nazi army got to make name naked and paint them also the character in milkweed said that he won’t mind get painted like the Jews they also tied the Jews to a horse by their beard and make the horse go wild on the roads while everyone was laughing at them. At first when Hitler was going to attack the world he practice on destroying Jews so he can have less Jews to deal with and also the soldiers will learn how to bombard a place more accurate. Also Jews people have to hand their property to peoples who lives on road, military guys or the government.

The things I have learned from this book until now is that a boy name Uri who is a Jew. He lives in a barn with his other Jews friends one day when he is searching for food he finds a boy who is gypsy and his name is stoptheif because everyone called him that those two become like brothers. And they stole food and clothing for their selves to survive. He also a have a friend named Janina who’s Jew they laugh and eat food together once when janina invites him to her birthday party he saw that they were going to burn the cake but actually they were burning the candles so he steals the cake and run away later when he tells Uri all about it he laughs and explain him about the cake then they eat it together. He also helps an orphanage filled with Jews children. One day when he is stealing food the jackboots or Nazi see him and shot at him the bullet missis his head but it gets one of his ear and tear it in half when Uri sees him he gets angry and ties him on a leash stoptheif or misha pilsudsukiLater tells him that it won’t hold me for long .later on when the Jews are getting send to ghettos he doesn’t know where the Jews are going so he goes with them and finds a friend name janina. He goes with her and her family when they reach the ghetto they rush to get a house after a minute the saw at least one person to a house so no one else can get it from them later he finds a space in the wall the Nazi is building around ghettos he escapes and tells Uri all about where he has been Uri gets so angry that he hits him on his head and he falls down Uri also tell shim that stay away from that place it’s dangerous for gypsies or Jews and don’t tell anyone you are a gypsy and I’m a Jew.

In that time Reich. Eastern Poland was not occupied by German forces until June 1941. In south-central Poland the ... Germany occupied western Poland in fall 1939. Much of this territory was annexed to the German. Eastern Poland was not occupied by German forces until June 1941. In south-central Poland the ... Germany occupied western Poland in fall 1939. Much of this territory was annexed to the German so before World War II, Warsaw was a center of Jewish life and culture in Poland. During the war, the Nazis established over 400 ghettos where they forced Jews to live under crowded and miserable conditions. At its height, the ghetto in Warsaw -- the largest in Europe -- held over 400,000 Jews engaged in a constant struggle for survival. So this is what was going on in that time in our story, milkweed they mentioned ghettos too but the character didn’t know what was going on so he didn’t worry that much.

So what do you think would happen if the character knows what ghettos were if he did would he still go inside or not?

How Hitler did even have the thought of killing all the Jews?

How does the word milkweed even relate to anything with the holocaust?

would you vote for hitler i that time?

if you saw or hear anyone bullying or discriminating some one what would you do?

  7. Hey guys it me Bibek and I am going to share some more information about Holocaust.
What I learned more about holocaust in 1941. In 1941 Hitler got more control in Germany and he slow began to take Jews people in concentration camp. In Poland Hitler send of his Nazi team to scare Jews people. In the night if Nazi’s saw Jews people outside they will captured him and put him in the horse upside down face toward horse tail and draw a symbol that showed they were Jews. In night some time Nazi’s would drop bomb in Jews people because they thought they have no right to live or do anything. Jews people have to hand over the property thy lived in before they could speak up for themselves.
What I learned in Milkweed. One day a boy was lost in a city named Warsaw and a guy name Uri found the lost boy. Uri found lost boy when he was stealing bread. Uri caught up to a lost and tell him to say his name and his name was Stoptheif. Uri took a Stoptheif in the barn and tell him who he was to other Jews guys. Everybody called Stoptheif “stupid” because he didn’t even know where he was from n he didn’t know what Jews was. Uri decided to take Stoptheif in his house which was barber shop and barber had left it. Uri gave a bath to Stopthief and that moment he found out Stoptheif wasn’t Jews but he was Gypsy. One day Uri came with news, which describes Stop thief personality. Stopthief real name was Misha Pilsudsuki, he was born in a family of Gypsy in lad of Russia. Misha family travelled with a big family. His mother was fortune teller and his dad was a horse seller. One day his family had to be separated because a farmer chased his family off his garden. In that case Nazi’s found out and they try to kill his family and from now he never knew his family members until Uri told what happened. When he was trying to steal bread, he was exhausted of the heat and he found a place where were tomatoes? And he recognized a girl was looking at him and he tried to run away but didn’t run away. After finishing tomatoes he took the bred he stole and left. One night he got shot in his ear while trying to give bread to the girl his met.
At that time Jews didn’t had right to practise in the way like they did before Hitler had the control? In Slonim, the Germans established a ghetto which existed from 1941 to 1942. Jews were taken to ghetto. Germany invades Yugoslavia (surrenders April 18) and Greece. In Dvinsk, all Jewish males from 16 to 60 years old are arrested. Jews in Baltic countries must wear Star of David; Jews who are six years old or older must wear a yellow Star of David (Germany). At first when Hitler was going to invade the world, he tried to destroy Jews so he can have less Jews people to deal with in that time.
How is the author of Milkweed related to the holocaust in time of 1941?
Why hasn’t Holocaust ended up in people heart?
If you were citizen before 1941, would you vote for Hitler?

  8. Junayed here, again, the book Milkweed starts before the war. In the story it appears that my main character, Misha, was already in trouble before Nazi soldiers came to their town. He was separated from his family, and had lost everything that he owned. In the book he was separated because he was kidnapped by racist farmers who hated gypsies. After that he learned on his own that he had to steal for food. He stole food and eventually ran into a bunch of Jews. That was when Uri decided to stick with Misha and help him survive. They had a decent place to live in, for orphans who lived alone, but soon the Nazis began to abuse their power and the duo had to flee. They went from place to place stealing food from stores, which were also in danger and being shut down by Nazis, and trying to survive. Uri gave Misha strict rules to obey in order to stay alive and not get caught. Of course though Misha wouldn’t listen to Uri and snuck out alone. Soon after the Jews were being moved to ghettos and were being held there against their will.

  9. Since the last blog this is the event happened in Milkweed novel. When he went in the same place where last time tomatoes were, it wasn’t there anymore. He searched everywhere he couldn’t find it but he found an arrow going in a direction, he followed and he reached a garden. Misha found a plant where was only few fruit left and he ate them all. Then he saw a girl tapping her shiny black shoes in floor. Girl asked did you like it and Misha said yes and girl gave him a smile. Misha asked the girl what’s your name and girl replied Janina. Janina said would you like to come to a party and Misha nodded “yes”. Janina said tomorrow at evening come at my house and she pointed to her house. Next day, Misha went to find something for Janina for her birthday party. Misha was late for birthday party and Janina was mad and when Misha reached Janina house, Janina said you r late. Misha asked what is late and Janina said you don’t know and she explained somebody not coming in time or showing up in time. Janina said come in and Misha was surprised this is a birthday party; he hadn’t been in a party good as this before. When Misha reached in kitchen there was a cake and people were putting candle in it and he was scared it was going to blow up so he lift the cake and ran away outside of the house. When he went to sleep in bed with Uri, he explained what happened in the party and Uri laughed so hard he fell out of the bed and Misha laughed because he saw Uri laughed. After the party he saw Janina only where they were going to ghetto. Misha asked to Uri what is ghetto and Uri didn’t replied.

This is the link where you can see what my main character looks like in novel.
These boys look the same as the character in Milkweed, main character and his friend. Life before Nazi’s attack my main character family had lived together. He lived with his parent and his brothers and sisters. First his parent lived in Russia. His father was horse’s seller man and his mother was a fortune teller among society. One day his family thought about migration and his family migrated to Poland. When his parent were migrating his family brought lots of horses. In Poland his parents were mother fortune teller and father horse’s seller man. When his family were trying to get settle in a city, they couldn’t find a place. One day his family had to get separated because of the farmer and his garden, his family took a rest in the farmer garden and farmer saw it and he was mad so farmer his family off his garden. When Misha family separated they were in horses and Misha was with his mother and father and then there was a Nazi’s attack to his family.
Life after Nazi’s attack Misha was lost and had no idea what happened to him or his family. Misha was child when he got separated because of Nazi’s attack. He was stealing bread to survive in a lost place. One day when he was stealing bread he found out someone was chasing Misha and it was a tall and tough guy. He said I was going to steal that bread and Misha said nothing and a tough guy snatched the bread out of Misha hand and split in half and gave it to Misha and he ate his piece of bread. After the attack of Nazi’s Misha never could stay in one place because he was too scared people would kill him. When something bad happened in the society people would balme in Jewish people and one day when Misha was stealing bread a women said you dirty son of Jewish and Misha replied I am Gypsy not Jewish.

Her family tells misha that tell ono one about ithe food or that you come to our house because they will take you to and when misha asks where are they going to take me they said you don’t need to worry

The Warsaw ghetto uprising (April 19--May 16, 1943) was the twenty day battle initiated by the Jewish fighting forces in Warsaw when German troops entered the ghetto to begin the final round of deportations. Having received advanced warning of the timing of the action, the entire population of the ghetto disappeared into prepared hiding places before the Germans arrived. Non-compliance with orders to assemble for deportation was accompanied by hit and run attacks on German units, which forced their temporary withdrawal from the ghetto. After several days of clashes with resistance fighters, the Germans resolved to burn down the ghetto and smoke the Jews out of their concealed bunkers. The Jewish resistance, led by Mordecai Anielewicz, held out until May 8, when its headquarters at Mila 18 was discovered and many of its leaders (including Anielewicz) killed. Not having planned for an organized retreat from the ghetto, only a few dozen fighters were able to escape to the Aryan side of Warsaw. This, they accomplished by winding their way through the city's sewer system. Some 56,000 Jews, according to Stroop's report, were killed or captured during the ghetto revolt. Of those who were taken alive, 7,000 were deported to their immediate death in Treblinka. Another 22,000 were sent to Majdanek. Between 14,000 and 16,000 Jews went to the Poniatowa labor camp, and between 5,000 and 6,000 were sent to the Trawniki camp.

  13. Hey again its Junayed,
In my novel Misha was not allowed to do a lot of things since he was a gypsie. He unconsciously resisted against the Nazis by stealing, talking to Jews and regardless of the Nazis he could go to any store in town. As well Uri was a Jew, but he stayed out of the ghettos because he didn’t look like a Jew. There were many dangerous things that happened to them that caused them to waver. Some of these things include the terrible things the Nazis did to them and how the Nazis treated them.
In history, a girl named Anne Frank did something like Uri; she attempted to hide from the Nazis. She and her family were able to hide with the aid of some generous citizens. Many scary things would have happened to her, the Nazis would have killed her friends and family. She was an especially talked about person because she had documented her struggles in the Holocaust in her diary. Although she did not survive the Holocaust because she was taken to a camp, a member of her family managed to save her diary which documented the Holocaust from her perspective. Anne Frank can be read about from:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anne_Frank
    http://www.annefrank.org/
    http://annefrank.com/
Right now I have learned that not all the people in Germany were cruel enough to support the Holocaust, many were good but did not help. They chose not to see the harassment, abuse and killing of the Jewish people in the Holocaust. They chose not to vote and because of these simple choices Hitler was elected as their leader. They did not have to choose to not vote for Hitler, they could simply have voted against Hitler. When I think of the Holocaust at this time I think of one word; apathy.
This week I hope to wrap up the majority of my book. I am expecting that eventually Uri will be abducted and put into the Ghetto. At this moment Misha also seems interested in the Ghetto. I think he does not know how bad it is right now. I can also predict the situation will escalate and soon there will be deaths as well as worse camps. I hope to convey my learning later in the month.

  14. Since the last blog these are the event that happened in the novel. Misha asked Uri but he still didn’t replied and Misha kept on asking Uri but no respond. Misha and Uri got close to ghetto and Misha met Janina and his family. Misha said hi to Janina and Janina replied back. Misha said are you going to ghetto? Where did you go? A voice came from the sidewalk and the person speaking was in a horse and Misha remembered his face looked familiar. Janina said that’s my father and Janina father said people are afraid of you Misha and Misha laughed. Misha said no body is afraid of me and Janina said don’t laughed at my father if he says if they are afraid of you than they are afraid of you. Misha and Uri had reached the ghetto and Uri said this is “a closet?” a closet Misha said closet and he remembered what uncle Shepsel said “we’re going to live in closet”. After that Misha went to see Janina and they walked around the courtyard and they reached her house and Janina went in and Misha returned. When Misha was returning people started to build the wall and there were lots of bricks. Misha went where he was living on ghetto and said what happened in the whole day. Next day Misha went to Janina house and it was in Niska Street and Misha knocked on the door and gruff voice answered and it was Janina uncle Shepsal. Misha had a sack of food with him and when Misha entered the house uncle Shepsal locked the door. Janina said what in the sack and Misha answered its food and Janina clapped its food but Misha father asked where you got the food and Misha replied in “many places”. At that time Janina mother was putting mattress in right places.
The character name in Misha Pilsudski in a book called milkweed. Misha thought what’s going was just a game. The resistance was my character didn’t say anything to Nazis because Nazis haven’t done anything bad to him in the way he thinks. My character was no the smartest so he think Nazi’s weren’t bad at any point. Misha wanted to be a Jackboots or Nazi’s. Guy name Uri finds a boy who is gypsy and he is taking care of him and Uri is going against the law that is created by Hitler puppet “Nazi’s”. No matter what happens to Uri resistance s active because he found a boy who he thinks can’t survive if he is left behind and he is taking care of him? In the book people are being racist to Jewish people and to gypsy people and without take an action they defeat Jewish people by their voice because they are not Jewish and if something bad happened they complain to Nazi’s. Uri is risking his life to protect innocent boy.
Some people show a resistance during holocaust because Jewish people afraid Nazi’s people will get their life away. In holocaust many people were killed by Hitler and people are afraid to lose their loved ones. People who survived holocaust say it was the worst thing that happened to them in their whole life. The survivors who were interviewed said that every second was like a year they could feel their pain by seeing what was happening to other people “their friends, family and even the people they hate”. When people saw what happened in the ghetto they thought they couldn’t survive the pain that was getting through their nerves. Most people risked their life to protect the innocent ones. Families were separated any nobody knew they were getting back or not. People during holocaust wanted to report what happened to them but if they show any active resistance they would only make more trouble. During holocaust people sand up for other them would only get their life thrown out. Adolf Hitler was apathy man who cared about him selves only and not cared about other people.

Suppose if you were Hitler what would you do in that case?
If Hitler chooses people who were mean to other, bullies and if you were one of them would you go for Hitler to kill other people?
Why do you think something like holocaust was written in our history?

  16. Since last time I blogged these are the things I learned from the book. When misha escapes out of the ghetto and tells Uri about it he slaps him and tells him not to go there a few days later every one of Uris friend start living with him at the barn when Misha asks why are you living with us they said because there are finches outside. He asks what’s finches they tells him they are people who tells the jackboots where Jews are hiding after a few days in the morning the barn door flews open and jack boots swarms the place one of the kid ties to run but the jackboots shot him and he falls on the grounds like a rolled rug. When they take misha to the ghetto he gets very angry because he thinks they insulted him first he thinks that there is no one that can keep him from going anywhere he wants then he thinks about Uri he looks around and doesn't find Uri he thinks back and says Uri wasn’t there when the jackboots marched he says that he isn’t around anymore lately some time he goes away with his red hair for days he thinks that because Uri said he’s starter then the jack boots so Misha thinks that he shouldn.t be worried about Uri because he can take care of himself in any situation then he says how should we escape when they reach the ghetto they see a red walls going from left to right as far as eye can see he also notices the steel wiring on top of the red walls he saw when a bird sat on the wire for a little bit it blew up. Then he gets threw in the ghetto he runs to janina’s hose and tells her that now he is going to live in the ghetto her uncle shepsel sys they don’t want any more neighbours and they both run outside to play. Misha meets some of his friends and introduces janina’s to them and says she is my sister later on when janina’s said why are you calling me your sister I’m not your sister, Then misha says oops didn’t know.
The character in my book name misha doesn’t even know anything about what’s going on he thinks it’s just a moving houses because of the bombards’ and stuff he gets angry the one time when the Nazi’s are moving him to ghetto he says these walls are not going to stop me from where I want to go. The resistance shown I’ve so far read in my is passive resistance, meaning that people resist but not by taking fights or arguments but by hiding people the Nazi’s are killing the person who show’s this resistance is Uri who finds him and keeps misha with him in the barber shop risking his own life. He thinks that misha can’t survive in the harsh and dreadful world outside. So he had to take the kid in.
So in my decision people should start showing some action because the Jews were one their best friends and relatives and why should on Jews be killed what wrong have they done to the Nazi’s or the infamous Hitler. Some people didn’t even bother saying a word/argument to Nazis while some people gave up their lives to protect the innocent peoples who were getting killed for nothing they have done, a lot of people didn’t showed resistance because they were afraid there lives and their family lives are going to get killed in that time they should have thought of how the Jews were feeling when their family members were getting killed. I think they thought that if we had just thought about voting Hitler some more if we just got another vote we would choose someone else. This holocaust is one of the perfect examples of Apathy so we really should think about who we are electing maybe there is another Hitler waiting to be elected by us and when that happens people are going to blame each other saying that why did you choose him.

    Questions
If you choose someone like Hitler and he killing other peoples because you choose him will you try to show resistance or stay quiet?
When you get the opportunity to vote will you take it seriously or not?
If you were a Jew and they were going to kill you and they said what is your last wish what would you say?
