Photo Project

1. Research the time in World War II in which your novel takes place. It is important to note the locale and a detailed time frame (not just the year, but what was happening) within the Holocaust.

2. Research what life what like for your character before the Nazi occupation of that country. Search through the United States National Holocaust Memorial Museum’s photo archives to find photos that:

o Depicts the character’s life prior to Nazi occupation. This can be extended to the life/culture in that town/city like prior to the German invasion.
o Depicts the character’s life at the current stage in your reading of the novel. This can be extended to when and how did the town/city come under Nazi rule and the affect upon your character.

Provide a link to images in your post. Accompany your images with a description of the character’s life prior to the occupation and at the current stage in your novel.

3. Negotiate the reading for next week.

As an extended activity, look through your family photos to find at least one picture to bring in and share that relates in some way to one of the researched photos. View Student Samples to gain a deeper understanding of this activity:

Post your comments on the page entitled with your novel.
